What is it: The Conservation and Reserve Program is a contract between landowners and the Farm Service Agency (FSA). Landowners agree to remove environmentally sensitive land from agricultural production and turn it into a diversified natural habitat in exchange for a yearly payment.
The Goal of CRP: The longterm goal of CRP is to convert land back to its natural habitat and increase environmental diversity. By re-establishing the natural habitat we improve water quality, reduce soil-erosion and increase wildlife habitats.
